A Letter to Hubei University of Technology Overseas Alumni
Dear Hubei University of Technology Overseas Alumni:
In early 2020, the outbreak of new coronavirus pneumonia in Wuhan, China attracted the attention of people around the world. In the area hit hardest by the outbreak, the people of Hubei, especially the people of Wuhan, have demonstrated unprecedented courage and solidarity in the war! Under the correct leadership and concern of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the guidance of scientific methods, Chinese medical teams have gradually mastered the methods of prevention and treatment in the fight against virus. As of today, the number of newly confirmed and suspected cases in Wuhan has dropped to a single-figure one for several days.
Such news is uplifting! However, just as China sees the turning point, the virus began to ruthlessly ravage around the world. Whenever we see the rising number of newly diagnosed patients overseas, and whenever we see that the epidemic prevention and control situation overseas has become severe, our hearts become anxious and disturbed.
The university leadership, while carefully organizing university epidemic prevention and control work, are also very concerned about the situation of alumni around the world, and have repeatedly entrusted School of International Education to extend sympathy to alumni who are at the front line of the epidemic prevention, and urge them to do their best to protect themselves and ensure their own health, while completing the epidemic prevention and control tasks. At the same time, the university leadership would like to express the most sincere gratitude to the international alumni who have been paying close attention to HBUT epidemic prevention and control work and given strong support and assistance.
Dear overseas alumni! With the rapid development of globalization, the epidemic soon turns into global pandemic. Thus, it becomes an urgent and realistic task to build a "community of shared future for mankind." Although we are thousands of miles apart, concern from HBUT about her international graduates and overseas alumni can still travel far across the ocean and continents and finally reach you; although it is difficult to meet for us at this moment, the care from China can still reach you despite the great geographical hardships!
Dear overseas alumni! We hope that in this battlefield without smoke, when you are in your own country and land, you will still be able to uphold the spirit of HBUT motto of “Cultivate Virtue, Enrich Knowledge, Seek Truth, Be Innovative” and contribute your own effort to the global battlefield against the Covid-19 pandemic! Alma Mater will spare no effort in helping you in terms of human resources and intellectual resources. HBUT will always share a common fate with her international graduates and overseas alumni!
Every cloud has a silver lining. When the victory against the Covid-19 is attained, we would like to see your smile on the banks of Xunsihe River, to hear your laughter in the beautiful campus of HBUT!
Last but no least, we would like to remind you to fully protect yourselves. Wish you and your families a safe and sound future!
